Anxiety
When anxiety keeps you in a loop
Anxiety can turn one uncertain moment into hours of thinking. Let us look at why that happens and how to respond with a little more kindness.

Maybe you replayed a conversation ten times and still could not decide whether you said the wrong thing. Maybe you tried to predict every possible outcome before making a simple choice. Anxiety often promises that one more round of thinking will finally make you feel certain.
Usually, it does not. The answer feels reassuring for a few minutes, then another doubt appears. This is how the loop keeps itself alive.
Start by noticing the loop
Instead of arguing with every anxious thought, try naming the process: “My mind is searching for certainty again.” You are not dismissing the concern. You are simply noticing what anxiety is asking you to do.
Then bring some attention back to the room. Feel your feet against the floor. Notice one sound nearby. Take one slower breath. Small actions like these will not solve every problem, but they can help you step out of the mental replay long enough to choose what comes next.
You do not have to outthink anxiety
In therapy, I help you look at what triggers the loop, what gives it fuel, and which responses actually leave you steadier afterward. The goal is not to never feel anxious. It is to feel less controlled by anxiety when it shows up.
