Starting therapy
What to expect from your first therapy session
Feeling nervous before a first session is completely understandable. Here is what I want you to know before we sit down together.

You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of everything that is wrong. You do not need to know where to start either. That is part of what the first session is for.
I usually begin by asking what brought you to therapy and what life has felt like lately. Some people have a lot to say right away. Others need time. Both are perfectly okay.
You are allowed to take your time
I may ask about your relationships, sleep, health, or experiences that have shaped you. You are always allowed to pause, ask why something matters, or tell me that you are not ready to go there yet.
Therapy should not feel like an interview you have to pass. My job is to understand you, not to judge how neatly you tell your story.
Bring your questions too
You might want to know how I work, what confidentiality means, how often we should meet, or whether a particular concern is something I can help with. Please ask. Feeling comfortable enough to be honest matters.
You do not have to decide everything in one meeting. If you would rather speak briefly first, you can message me for a free 15-minute consultation before booking a full session.
